Esther H. Thompson was born March 3, 1853. She was the daughter of George and Harriett Thompson of Litchfield, Connecticut. As a young woman Esther attended Wesleyan Academy in Wilbraham, Mass., and completed the regular course of study in 1876. Esther then returned to her family home in Litchfield and began teaching.
